What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?
Community Supported Agriculture is a partnership between local farmers and their community with the goal of promoting and supporting local, all-natural, sustainable agriculture practices that benefit both local families and the environment. Members of the community commit to support a local farmer who, in turn, commits to produce the highest quality all-natural produce possible for the CSA members. By purchasing a membership to the CSA, members are investing in the upcoming season's harvest by purchasing a weekly share of that harvest in advance. CSA members support local all-natural food systems, secure the agricultural integrity of their region and participate in a community building experience by getting to know who grows their food.
Why is our CSA right for you?
You will receive fresh, healthy, all-natural, local products that are handpicked within a few hours of receiving them.
You are supporting a local farm and family and helping to preserve farmland in your region.
You are also supporting the local economy by keeping your food dollars close to home.
You will receive a wide selection of fruits and vegetables on a weekly basis and ideas on how to cook them on our website.
Your CSA weekly share could feed one to four people, depending on how you use it.

Full Share = $400: 16 consecutive weeks of pick up at any of the four pick up locations on Tuesdays.
Half Share = $200: 8 weeks of produce to be picked up every other week at the Shalom Park location only.

Tuesday pickup at our Farm in Millingport, NC
A membership to our 2010 CSA costs $400 (Full Share) or $200 (Half Share), which is equal to $25 a week over the course of 16 weeks (or 8 weeks -twice monthly- for a Half Share) for the highest quality all-natural produce grown locally for you. Here at Carlea Farms, we understand that 16 consecutive weeks of pick-up (Full Share) or 8 weeks of every other week pickup (Half Share) may pose a challenge for a vacationing family and therefore allow for members to pickup their bags over the course of 17 weeks (Full Share) or 9 weeks (Half Share), providing one week off. If a member chooses to take the 1 week off allowed, they must notify Carlea Farms at least 24 hours in advance.
Those interested in a CSA membership will need to mail their Application for Membership, Membership Agreement and a deposit of $200 (Full Share) or $100 (Half Share) to Carlea Farms no later than February 15, 2010. The remaining balance of $200 will be due by April 1, 2010. We accept members on a first-come first-served basis and will post on our website when our CSA is full.
All membership forms can be found under the CSA Forms page.
We accept cash, check or money order made out to Carlea Farms.
